Had a ding in my mk3 and smashed one indicator/fog light. I got some new ones off ebay but they are just indicators without the fog lights. when i dialed it all back in all indicators flash too fast. and ideas what is causing this?? also is it an mot failure if they flash fast? cheers

Yep bulb blown
-
I wish!! all bulbs working good
-
What bulbs are in the front ,if its they are those low wattage ones they may not be drawing enough current therefore fast flashing as if theres a bulb gone

Bad earth somewhere ? Check the connectors to your rear lamps, and check the bulb holders in the lamps

I had this when I was tinkering with a set of clocks, it was because i'd soldered some led's in and inadvertently bridged a couple of the wires on the circuit board so it could be an issue with something shorting out on the clocks...although I doubt it
A very helpful reply from me!

Check the wiring behind your bumper aswell
-
cheers for all the tips. there are 2 wires each side which used to go to the fogd but this shouldn't affect it??
-
if the wiring's damaged it could do
-
ok ill have a look. cheers

Very good point. Check the wattage of the bulb from ebay. Just to confirm, it is only one side that isn't working properly? The one that was hit? If so, check the bulb, then start swapping lamps from the affected side to the working side one by one, front unit, side repeater then rear cluster. hopefully you'll pick up on something there otherwise you will be looking at a power/wiring fault as already mentioned :)

both sides are affected  I'm going to put the old right one back in and see what happens.
