Title: creaking steering
Post by: nikkiy9 on 28 April 2011, 18:42
whenever i steer at a very slow speed ie pulling away, my car makes one hell of a nasty creak, does this sound like strut tops??

the reason i'm asking is that it sounds really loud inside the car too

as you can tell, there's quite a few issues with the car that i'm going to sort in the summer

Could be a top mount bearing or the rack itself

you need to jack the car up and have a play, check bushes etc too on the wishbones, arb and as wayne said check the steering rack, especially the bush at the bottom.

It could be a different sound to the one mine makes but could it be the power steering fluid?

I only know that because some guy at sh1t fit said that my steering was creeking when steering at slow speeds (which it does), and he said that it could be the power steering fluid needing refilling, but we had already refilled it when I first got the car, so i'm left with the grinding steering problem

Could we both have the same proble?

Cheers, Les.
