Morning all and hello as i am a new member to the forum.
I have just purchased a 1995 Mk3 16v and was looking for parts, need to do a wheel bearing and some belts etc.
How can i tell if i have the earlier or later model as the change was during 1995?
many thanks

When you go to VW to get yours parts they will ask for you number plate and they will be able to tell you whats what! Mind you if you dont want to go VW due to price you could always just ask for the detail and buy elsewhere?

OK i'll give VW a call.
For wheel bearings are the febi's ok?
-
Febi's are fine.

I was told that the side indicators changed to oval shape and the brakes went from 280mm to 288mm.
On my 95 16v I had oval indicators and 280mm brakes lol it also didn't have fog lights.

cool thanks all, i know it didnt have fogs before i fitted them.
i will check the repeaters tonight.
I was looking at vwspares.co.uk, can anyone recommend them or anyone else?

wheel bearings are all the same, also the belts should be the same as the 16v only used the abf motor (It didn't get an "upgrade" like the 8v did in mid 1995!)
it should be sqaure repeaters mean early pre 96my model (the 16v got the bigger brakes late 94 I believe? but 280 on an 8v usually means early spec)
The big problem seems to be vw finding old parts in the stock room through out a models life and bolting on what ever they have spare!!

vw spares are a good place to buy from. bought lots of service parts from them and never had any problems

Thanks everyone, I will be sorting out an order tonight
