Title: piper cross induction kit

hello

can anyone tell me how much extra horse power a piper x  induction kit gives to my 91 8v digifant gti.  I have a standard exhaust.  Insurance company wants to know.

One other thing....what size is the rear wash wipe on my gti coz its different from the front....(inches front are 18 inch)

You could just go for a piper x panel filter and a drilled airbox and that way the insurance company would never need to know!  :D

The general rule is filter and exhaust give 10% extra. You will get better mid range response rather than a lot more power overall.

Trying to get insurance!!!
For online insurance they ask what modifications i have made.  What i need to know is when they say "filters (Non standard)" does this mean induction kit????

Its a pretty cock insurance company if they put your premium up for just fitting a sports air filter.

Should be ok with just a filter, its when you start modding everything else....  ;D

I reckon you're better off with a panel - they're only 24 quid and less restrictive than an OEM panel.

If you fit an induction kit to an 'electronic' injection system the setup will detect more air going to your engine and simply re adjust the mix accordingly and cancel out any real world improvements. So bugger all difference - maybe slightly more noisey, that's all.

K -jets are different coz they are part mechanical - and rely on suction to increase the mix - hence drilling holes adds a little kick to earlier cars.

Thats the idea of electronic fuel injection, put an induction kit on, more air in, ecu adds more fuel, more throttle response and BHP.

You miss the point - the electronic brain cancels out the added air with a leaner mix.

it's all about economy with modern brains.

Not really no. If you add more air, the ecu will automatically add more fuel!  :P Thats a fact!  :D
