I like both looks and alot depends on wheels and the theme of the car.But I do think it spoils some cars when everythings removed arches,spoiler etc etc just my view.My own car suits arches well thats why Ive left them on and a piccys to argue my case  :grin:

Some people will say that it is no longer a GTI without the arches but it never worried me.  :smiley:

Completely depends on the car IMO.

Agreed depends on wheels,colour and theme of the car but some do look pants without the arches imo to much like a CL with a set of wheels..

It depends on the car but im mostly swayed towards pulling them off now. Just looks cleaner and less chance the arches rotting away.

Yeah, they are just riveted in all you need to do is drill them out :) the rest of it is just popped on.

I'll echo what others have said. They can look good on and off. My GL looked great without but it was all colour coded. I don't like them off of a GTi and leaving the front and rear bumpers textured, looks naff in my opinion.

But red definitely suits arches, not that I'm biased or anything:

If anyone wants to keep them on, I would recommend removing them and the sill covers and spraying loads of waxoil underneathand then refit them.

In general it really depends on the car. Some look way meaner with, others look cooler without, some look naff with, some look naff without. But arches on for red cars imo, though I'm biased too  :evil:

after being a run in mine tonight its also faster with the arches off, beat a mk3 16v in a race. :grin:

It appears that mine was more aerodynamic and also lighter :grin:

My vr6 has with out and a bit of arch flare, it does look good. Infact the only bit of black plastic is the front splitter. I will upload some pics once I get my new wheels  :grin:

2 reasons why I removed them.

1) clearance for the bigger wheels.
2) they are a rust / water trap

Worth remembering how much the sill covers can hide.

I removed mine coated the arches in under seal, really thick coat and glued them back on. hope they survive because I ain't selling it lol

One of my VR with no arches thats how it came but as mentioned all colour coded looks nice.
