Title: brake disks what caused this!

any idea what caused this,.....under 3 years daily driver not track abused....on a mk3 tdi...

Where did you buy them from?

Lots of companies online and e bay selling substandard discs/pads

black diamond ones brand new in boxes from reputable company too :(

Hi i had black diamond drilled and grooved discs on my golf and they did the same as that within a couple of years too!

Poor quality porous castings. When the disc gets hot then cold then hot then cold etc etc the tiny holes in the sh!tty castings start to form cracks and then bits of the disc start to fall off  :sad:

As above, also grooved discs are not really needed for road use.

had got them as the mk3 tdi seem under braked :(

thats the plan not 100% sure whats needed...280mm disks (4 hole) and gti capliers and cariers?

You need
MK2 Golf 16v front hubs
280mm G60 calipers and carriers(calipers usually stamped G56)
G60 4X100 discs
G60 pads

only need the hubs if it has 239mm discs, since its a tdi im 99% sure it will have 256mm

yes there 256 disks at the moment.....thought there were some mk3 calipers that were 280 mm ?
