Evening guys,
Having to get the bottom end off me 1.8 8v,
I'm gonna be getting the usual work done, just wondering whether it's worth the risk putting a foreign 2.0 8v bottom end in, rather than doing the work on the engine I know,
I'd like the extra bit of torque, but what should I be looking for when sourcing the new lump?
I'm not a major wiz with engine work,
Any ideas would be appreciated!

Yes better and a good upgrade to switch to a 2.0 (2e is the best choice I believe)
-
I'm glad for the back up on that!
Are there any recommendations for replacement parts whilst the lump is out that you guys would advise to change?
I was thinking oil pump, clutch and obvious seals etc?
Anything that you guys with experience could recommend?

Yes well worth replacing
-
Would you go with proper VDub parts or elsewhere,
Everything i've ever put on is Original, just gonna be getting a bit pricey!!
Anyone who's done the 1.8 8v - 2.0 8v advise??
Cheers

stick to genuine or get GOOD replacement parts
-
Clutch wise a Sachs or Luk kit will be fine.

Hi Wayne,
In relation to my swap to 2.0 8v,
Are all parts i.e fuel management, going to be the same?
I have a mate who works at Audi so i get mega discount on VW parts, just trying to get a parts list together for the change,
Cheers,
Danny

You will need a 2.0 head gasket plus new bolts all the rest should swap over.
Not sure on the dizy however.

You will need a 2E dizzy if using a 2.0 block.
Also need to consider the block breathers. I've read you can blank these off however I'm planning on plumbing it all using mk3 breather hoses.
Half way through the conversion. Seems straight forward so far.

good choice to convert to a 2.0 bottom end ,many of my friends have done the conversion , if you need a mk3 2.0 bottom or complete engine pm me or give me a call as i got a few.
