Looking for a new set of tyres, (195/50 15s on Sebrings), and have pretty been looking at the Eagle F1s. Price on mytyres is pretty good, but have just seen the new Kumho KU31 for even cheaper.
Has anyone used Kumhos? Seem to be a little better wearing than the Eagles from what I can gather, and I do over 60 miles per day so not keen on something wearing away.
I need a combination of wet/dry handling, low noise and good lifespan. Help!! :undecided:

me and tinman will say bf goodrich. i got mine reccomended for the price by oweners of lots of horse power and i was very impressed. i had eagle f1's before that and the BFG's are much better. don't know much about kumho's though.

Hi Joe,
Which Goodrich ones? Is that the Profilers?
-
errr cant remember what they are and they're in the shed!!! i'll have a look on the invoice see what that says!
-
I would go for round ones lol
On a more serious note, i have just fitted toyo proxies to the front of my mk3 and they stick like poo to a blanket, in both wet and dry conditions, woiuld recomend them to anyone
-
doesn't say but they were £34 plus vat, i can have a look tomorrow if you want?
-
Eagles come in a lot cheaper for the set- the fitting would still not bring them up to the cost of the BFGs and budget is a major consideration with rug rat on way....  Are they worth the extra? Will check them out from other places. Let me know tomorrow if you remember, if not, don't worry! I'll be waiting until after easter break to order them.

i once had a set of avon zv1's i think that were about 27 quid and they were bloody good for the money!
-
Right- officially confused now! Off to scour the web for prices and see how far I can push the overdraft.....

I had Kumho's on my last car and thought they were pretty good in dry but gave understeer in the slightest dampness - esp on islands.
They did however wear VERY well, I drive just under 90 miles 5 days a week and they lasted me over 6 months - Only reason they had to be changed was because of the camber of my wheels, ate the inside of the tyre all of a sudden.
Tread pattern is pretty cool as well...
-
My main criteria for a tyre is how long they last. The best I have come across for the money is Firestones. I get around half again the mileage on them compared with Goodyear Eagles. They're not so good in the wet, I guess due to the harder compound, but I just drive accordingly

Anyone ever bought their tyres online and then had them fitted? I was thinking of buying some from here:-

Seems a good price and my local tyre fitters only charge £5 per wheel for fitting.

^^ i looked at mytyres and blackcircles before going to my local tyre place, who were an approved fitter for them. i can't remember how it all works but it seemed to be a bit more complicated then i first thought. something silly like you had to buy the tyres from the website, get them delivered to the garage, arrange a date blah blah blah, when in reality the tyre place was cheaper than the websites in the first place, so i just got them to do it!

I've orderd two sets of tyres from Mytyres now, both times they were much cheaper than i could find locally and they arrived on my doorstep three days after ordering.

My tyres rock!
I always get the tyres for the mini from there and they are cheaper than any place round where I live. I'm lucky that my local tyre centre is run by a mini enthusiast and he charges me nothing but the costs of valves and weights to fit tyres on my cars.

I think I might just have to give them a try. Thanks for the feedback.

Have ended up ordering from mytyres and they should be here on Tues. Eagles in the end, as seemed to be the best compromise. Will be on the car as soon as I finish the Sebrings!
