was going to service my car today
firstly in my service schedule it says toothed belt change, take it this means cam belt yes?
also anyone know if vw are open today? or will they all be different weather they decided to open today?

Toothed belt will be cambelt; and your best bet is to pick up the phone and ring vw :wink:

cheers, so if at 85 k every thing was ticked except from brake fluid, which was done about a month ago,and its on 105k now i just need to change oil/oil filter/sump plug, air filter, spark plugs and petrol filter?
this is a mk4 1.8n/a btw, didnt put it in the mk4 section cause im guessing its pretty much the same across all the mk's and it will get seen more in here.

It depends on time as well, cambelts can perish with age. When was the 85k service carried out?

around a year and a half ago
just noticed that spark plugs are under the "every 40k" part so dont need them doing untill 120k im guessing, unless someone couldnt be botherd to get them done

The belt should be fine then. I'd have a look at the plugs and see what condition they're in, if they look knackered replace them otherwise I'd be tempted to leave them :smiley:

id also have a look at the belt. as dom says, they cam perish with age and develove cracks and what not.

Cam belt is every 40k or 4 years
