Not sure what to buy him, but he loves this Heng Long Tiger Tank!
It shoots BB to 25Ft and has metal tracks, chassis with solid metal gearing, smoke, 1/6 scale so its big and weighs about 20 odd KG LOL.
He wanted originally a Spitfire plane, but he is only 9 years old so a tank might be better?
Any other good ideas?

thats a rather cool rc tank! plane is a bit much for 9 year old i would think!
-
Holy sh!t that's awesome!
-
Heres the plan: Buy one for your son and when he is at school you can play with it  I
That looks cool nice with the smoke. I don't know what they use for the smoke but I would make sure its not some ridiculously expensive smoke fluid.
I recon a plane is a bit much.

I think its just cooking oil they use not sure though.... I can upgrade the BB gun to Co2 proberly 250fps with a better spring, but can't trust him with it at 9yrs, the pets would get shot!
I was shocked at the price of the Tamiya ones jees price of an old golf some.....
One good thing the tracks and gear train is metal unlike the early plastic ones that broke very quickly.
Top speed 15MPH on a tank

deffo get him that  but also get one for yourself, will be much more fun going head to head wiv your boy in the garden
-
Deffo get tank. Planes get expensive when they crash and trust me he WILL stuff it into a tree or the floor. I've done it several times already with an RC plane I have in Spain.
Tank looks great, always wanted one!

Haaa my RC days are well behind me! TBH I did have a few quality ones, passed them on over the years to relatives shame I loved my petrol buggys and trucks  Its weird after 20 odd years coming back to them :embarassed:

nice, maybe add some blood red paint?
-
Thought about that think it might look to red primerish?
I'm going to add mud paint next to give it more used look, but its just fun for my lad.
I was thinking to use a hot needle and stick afew buliet holes for good measure.

That looks cool mate, get the "3818" looking a bit worn and it'll look authentic (sp)!
-
iirc im sure german units in ww2 only used 3 numbers on the tank to denote iirc squadron, troop and tank within troop

This was a Tiger One an early one, so not sure about the other King Tiger if it has less numbers?
It came with the kit so thats why we just went with the flow. :undecided:

As you can see spent some time with our lad painting the commander of the Tiger1 Tank.
The commander came just in Green plastic which shows in the first picture so we decided to paint him in some orignal colours using a painfully small 0000 brush!
Any tips on painting these as I know there are some die hard model makers collectors on here!

i would also consider a rc boat there alot cheaper than both the tank and plane

You would be surprised the Tank only cost me £100 compared to the boat £300+
The good thing is he can use the tank around the house whilst the boat would mean summers and spring times.
But hey it might be on mine his christmas list
-
lol you got a bargain with that tank mate,i had a hpi baja 23cc a few years ago it was huge and cost me 700 quid i wish i still had it but i sold it to get a crosser,i have always wanted a plane but knowing me i would destroy it withing 10 mins
