Title: Removing lower timing cover
Post by: motah33 on 25 April 2011, 03:27
Hi,

I need to remove the bottom timing cover (1990 Digifant 8v) and from what I can see, I need to remove the crankshaft pulley. I've taken off the nut+bolt that holds the bottom timing cover in place. I need to remove the 4 hex bolts by holding the centre crankshaft bolt with I think a 19mm socket? I presume this will come out and I can pull the timing cover off? When putting it back, will it only fit one way? Would I need new bolts plus some thread locker?

Thanks

I'm sure you don't need to remove the pulley to remove the cover, I'm pretty sure it comes off over it.. Think your missing a bolt. Check the whole perimeter of the cover and the centre 1 of course.16v anyway

8V and 16V you DO need to remove the pulley from the crank to get the lower cover off.

This means the four allen headed bolts and then tap it about a bit and it should come off.

DO NOT undo the big bolt in the middle!

Are you talking about the v belt pulley or the crank (cambelt) pulley. The big v belt 1 will yeah (4 bolts), the cambelt 1 (19mm bolt) doesn't though
