Title: Retro-fit Sat-Nav

Can anybody tell me if they have had sat-nav fitted in their MkIV golfs? I have been offered a new sat-nav unit from SatNavSystems of Leeds for Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£625 (version G), fitted for an additional Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£120.

Has anyone had it done, or do they know of any problems? The bloke who would fit it is an ex VW technician.

Opinions would be appreciated, oh yeah, you're probably all going to say get a TomTom Go.......... :lipsrsealed:

Allowing you to store 80gb of mp3s or movies. Also should allow you to answer the phone using the screen using bluetooth to link to the system.

Post by: GaryM on 28 April 2005, 23:14: I have retrofitted Satnav into my GTI, I got the D version for Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£400 delivered which was in perfect condition.
With the D version you get directions, info and radio stations on the FIS cluster very easily.

Post by: nadlad on 01 February 2006, 10:59: arcadia pm me and i will give u details of a guy i know who will fit version G sat nav into your car with the gps antenna and cd changer cable for Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£410 fitted i know this because i was thinkign of getting mine done i have spoken to him on the phoen a few times ill give u his number he is a good guy all units arebrand new uk spec provided with keycode and the map cd for 410 fitted and guaranteed its a bargain. the diff between version d and g is that version G has better sound 40W x 4 and has a tiltable screen and a multicoloured scree....however i must warn u these sat nav units for the vw are absolutely $hit

if u were plannign on spending 649 plus 120 fitting u may aswell get teh pioneer dvd sat nav its 750 fitted and much mich better has built in dvd player

Do you have the DVD System now?
