Have you arranged a private sale on her or p/x? If private any chance you would share the info with us.  I'm considering chopping Bonnie in for something else ie a Freelander 2 and wondered approx how much she is worth.

I somehow don't think so. He's too big a lad for the i10. Besides, it won't suit his image in Knightsbridge.

It's an Audi RS3 for him, me thinks. He'll keep it for a year and change it for the newer model.

The Freeklander 2 is just a vile looking car completely devoid of style. Just thinking about it makes me want to puke. Now, the Evoque is another matter and worth considering.
Apart from the Golf, the whole VW range of cars is as dull as ditch water.

I think most things in the VW stable look dull to be honest (Seat, Skoda and especially Audi). Audis all look the same - some are just bigger than others (with the obvious exceptions of the TT and the R8). Even the 4x4s are just bigger versions of the same car.
I'm not saying they're not good, just dull to look at.

The VW Golf Mk6 GTI 5 door is stylish, practical, fast, roomy, quiet, fun, desirable. No amount of accolades can do it justice IMO. It is an icon.

I chose it from a price range of cars between £20k to £60k. There is still nothing I would want to replace it with. Nothing comes close, even remotely.

And that is that. :smug:

Remember mine's an July 09 with 38k miles so they try to knock off nearly £3k for the mileage

Not likely this will be kept close to his chest until the big reveal. I think I'll keep an eye out on his mk5 website to to get some early clues/announcements.

If you leave the VW world Steve I'd like to say thanks again for the the advice and assistance you've given me.

You've just bought the Diesel Tiguan R-line. So are you keeping that and getting two additional cars or selling that and getting two new cars? Three cars would seem very greedy and overkill.

Correction: Your count 3, Mrs P's count 1. Talk about greed.

As your place of work is outside the Congestion Zone, you will probably get a GTD or a Bluemotion if you are feeling really stingy. :embarassed:
The other one could be an ED35 or a 'rocco R.

Well today the Mk6 went and I picked up the first of two cars.

Introducing the new daily driver: -

2.0TDI 140 Sport DSG, with virtually no extras but very low miles ready for me to stick 40k on it in the next 12 months  :rolleye:

While I will miss the Mk6 I won't miss my fuel bills, on the way to the garage today the Mk6 got 31.2MPG on a mixed run, the same journey back in the Jetta was 49.8MPG, estimate it will save me at least £300 a month  :smug:

First mod already completed, the install of an RNS-510 LED

New project car should be sorted by the end of May

Excellent Steve, just the Xenon retrofit and dropped about 2" and it will look perfect

You do about the same miles in four months as I do in a year

My Dad runs a Jetta TDI. They make excellent mile munchers.
A mate of mine runs a grey one like yours Steve, he goes all over the country in it and it certainly has excellent fuel economy. The 140 DSG goes well too, but I'm sure yours will soon be knocking out in excess of 140 anyway.....

2.0TDI 140 Sport DSG, with virtually no extras but very low miles ready for me to stick 40k on it in the next 12 months
While I will miss the Mk6 I won't miss my fuel bills, on the way to the garage today the Mk6 got 31.2MPG on a mixed run, the same journey back in the Jetta was 49.8MPG, estimate it will save me at least £300 a month  :smug:
Makes sense and if i was doing your miles i would be running a TDI too.
Suprised there was that much difference in the miles though on average but i guess some of thats motorway were the TDI claws it back. As when i do my pitiful 32 mile round trip commute in the TDI170 there only ~10mpg difference in it.

Don't touch it. Those Mexican VWs are nothing but trouble. They just can't get them made to  German standards. If you think German Golfs have problems, those Mexican Golfs are the pits.

You'll be spending lots of time washing cars.
Good exercise, but what a waste of your valuable time.
Me: never wash cars. Filthy job.
I think you could be right. The pollen is killing my chest and i have just had to wash the 3 cars on the drive due to been totally covered in pollen and its killed me.

I'll assume you probably have your next project 'fun' car already lined up Steve(?), but when I saw this advertised by Andrew at Volkswizard a week or so ago I thought about your 'project car': http://volkswizard.co.uk/carsforsale/lcj37y.htm

Looks to be in amazing condition for the age and has plenty of further potential. Not cheap but I bet nothing on that car was cheap.

Correction: The 4 door is actually slightly stiffer (and heavier) because of the reinforced center pillar between the doors.

I belive the 3 door shell is stiffer due to having 2 less door openings.

Wrong and it's nothing to do with the number of doors as they are not part of the stress bearing shell.

I think those bumpers were made with the American market in mind, hence the small 'plate recess.

One heck of an automobile though as the Yanks would say.
