Title: Induction
Post by: MonkeyMan on 08 September 2003, 11:43
Hi all,

I'm looking at putting an induction kit in my 86 8v but I'm having some problems pricing one - I can't find a K&N or Pipercross kit. has anyone got any details of kits which'll fit my 8v?

cheers,
MM.

K&N don't do an induction kit  for k-jet cars, someone on here posted that pipercross do one, i think. Do a search on here for it.

I have just bought a Ram Air direct replacement filter for my 16V and there is a big improvement compared to usuall! The car is a lot more responsive lower down the rev range.
If you want a induction kit though get a Ram Air one as they have a foam filter compared to the cotton ones on a K&N and there cheaper (well they are for a 16V).

The cheapest place i have found for Ram Air filters is:
http://www.thehappymotorist.co.uk/index.php
Direct replacement filter is ?24.99 inc p&p (?50 at the Awsome Gti Store inc p&p) for your car.
Induction Kits are ?55 -?59 in P&P depending on Model (?65 at Awsome inc P&P) for your car.

Hope this helps!

Thats for a 16v mk3! the earlier mk2 8v are k-jets , so it might be easier just to drill the box and put a sports panel filter in.

My mistake i thought u had a mk3.

Checked the web site again for your car and they have a Ram Air direct replacement for ?24.99 inc p&P (click on the link below)

http://www.thehappymotorist.co.uk/ramair/drf4.php?Pt_no=CE-1005&drf_ID=1973&Make=Volkswagen (http://www.thehappymotorist.co.uk/ramair/drf4.php?Pt_no=CE-1005&drf_ID=1973&Make=Volkswagen)

They dont do a Induction kit for your car only k-jets.

"the earlier mk2 8v are k-jets , so it might be easier just to drill the box and put a sports panel filter in. "

That's all a K jet needs.

20quid for a panel filter

6 big holes on the off side of the airbox - remove the 'gromet' on the inner wing (if fitted) and relish in the noise of sucking . . .

Unless you wanna junk the lot and shove carbs/throttle bodies on

"VVVRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!"
