Im changing these myself for the first time. My cars totally standard and as i dont want to spend that much im gonna have to stick to standard unless the difference isnt too great.
So what discs and pads should i go for and how much will it cost?
Thanks in advance

Anybody? :embarassed:

think you can go to 285mm discs not sure of price.
not long did all mine for £110 disc and pads and rear caliper

if your trying to do it on a budget, don't bother trying to increase the diameter and just get some discs and pads from gsf or euro car parts. they both do oe brands like ate. ecp also do ate power discs which are sort of grooved. i had a set and i think they cost under £30 and are often on offer. gsf do zimmerman stanard and also cross drilled versions which are very good but you don't have to have the drilled ones as they cost a bit more.
pagid pads are very good as well but create quite a bit of brake dust. just remembered gsf do brembo max discs which i think are pretty good value.
but any standard discs/pads will do the job if money is tight

German Swedish French have a good offer on Brembo Max brake disc's at the mo for 239mm disc's.

^^ there you go then gsf it is!!!!!

Just did my front brakes with brembo max discs and pagid fast road pads from GSF I must say I am most impressed my 16v now pulls up fast will get figures tommorow with my new gtech pro meter but 60-0 is damn quick couldn't get it to lock up before but now holy Shiat does it stop my seatbelts all work anyway!! do it but if buying brembos online from gsf you get new pad retaining springs too but you have to order 2 discs (sold singeley) other than that perfect also buy some new disc retaining screws as these normally are shafted in my experience anyway. And a touch of copper grease on the pad runners helps too. Good luck! buy an eezi bleed too makes life easy!.

would be easier to fit a GTi rear beam with everything attached. ask someone who is breaking a gti
-
how hard is it to change the rear beam? is it simple bolt on and attach brake lines?
