Title: golf mk1 1.5 fuel prob any ideas ?

i have a 79 mk1 1.5 auto which was used for the first time this year recently drove about 40 miles put fuel in in then went home,couple of days later started up reversed off drive and when i moved forward it cut out and won,t start now.turning over fine spark there.fitted a new pump but still no fuel coming through.anyone got any ideas please ?????????  :sad:
