Title: mk3.5 steering wheel in mk3

Been looking for a while for a tutorial on fitting a mk3.5 steering wheel in my 8v but cant seem to find one. has anyone come across one? i know its a straight swap but im thick and have no idea how its removed and the new one re-installed.  :grin:

Straighten steering wheel up.

Disconnect the battery and leave for 20mins.

Behind the steering wheel you will see 2 bolts, undo and left the airbag off.

Disconnect and place face up out side the car.

Undo 24mm nut and remove old steering wheel.

Reverse the above as required.

Nice one wayne your a legend! :wink: one question though is there any chance of the airbag going off in my face whilst trying to remove it? dont really fancy 2 black eyes if you catch my drift!

Not if you do what wayne said and leave it for a good 20 minutes with the battery disconnected, it will give any capacitors chance to discharge. I would still be pretty careful with it though, and again as wayne said, place it face side up out of the way.  :smiley:

Oh just one other thing does anyone know what type of bolts hold the airbag in on the mk3 steering wheel. cant seem to get my big head round the back to have a look  :embarassed:

I think they're 5 or 6mm hex iirc?
