Title: Need new scuttle panel any ideas?

hi
im looking to replace the scuttle panel on my 4 door 1990  Mk2 Gti
can some one suggest where i can get a replacement panel?
tried VW beadles seems to be the only place but maybe a pattern part avalilable

pattern parts will be a sh!t fit and you dont want a scuttle panel to be a sh!t fit!!

have you tried taking it to a body shop to see if they could weld it up?

you could find a broken mk2 and get it off that. there are loads around.

I'm no expert in golfs but if they are anything like the mini the scuttle is part of the shell of the car and as such is not a panel that can be "replaced". With the mini no new original panels are available to fix this (It's a real common problem on them even the last year 2000 cars rot like hell around the screen). However many companies offer repair panels which can be welded in to replace the rotten metal that is removed.

anyone got a breakdown picture of a golf chassis and panels like off a microfiche?

 i think what im after is part of the main structure and not easily replacable.
