My two cars went off friday 11th and i was told i'd have 2 back the following day with the engines swapped. Decent engine in my Atlas Green 90 spec 8 valve. Got one back on the sunday night, the sh!t one with the sh!t engine, wasn't happy. Just got my decent one back but what a difference !!!! New engine and gearbox, new front wheel bearings, power steering!!! mk3 rear calipers, new disc, pads and rear bearings!! it's never felt better, i nearly enjoyed parking it!!
So 11 days and just under?500 parts & labour (i didn't even pay for the transplant car, it was given to me, thats engine and power steering) and i've got a massive grin on my face again!!

And another 12 months MOT!! it gets even better as i remember what i actually had done, oh and lazer alignment as well!!
-
where is this place? sound like bargain central!?
-
I know the place its called john Wayne motors where the mechanics walk round with ten gallon hats and spurs on there safety
boots. lol. only joking. sounds a top price mate. Looks like you got a bargain there.
-
luckily for me a mate, although he said he didn't really ever wanna do it again!! ?Just gotta get the springs of him now to go a bit lower, he'll be fitting them and some new strut mounts and shocks if they're in a bad way, all fitted by his fair hand. A mechanic for jeep/chrysler!
-
that seems to happen alot, people do a job and quote a price not realising what work is envolved!! ha ha then when the next person asks its "never again" or all of a sudden the price goes up!!
i know a guy who had audi door handles put in his golf for under ?100 so i went to get mine done and the bloke wanted over ?300 cos the other set he did took him forever!!

Quick Question to chris8valve:
Where did you get the front white indicator lenses? also did you get the yellow bulbs from the same place?
-
^ you can get clear indicators from everywhere and i'd get a set of silver bulbs that glow orange as they look better, otherwise they can look like fried eggs!
try www.swgmotorsport.com
www.volksbits.co.uk
www.candrenterprises.co.uk
or even go for german and swedish on www.gsfcarparts.com they may not be listed but they do do them
-
Yeah you can get a bargain if you shop around enough.
When the engine blew in the vr, i got a recon one including fitting for 200 quid
-
my lamps were off ebay, but if i was gonna buy them again i'd get clear indicators.

Clear indicators are also available from VAG, they were standard on the G60 Edition 1 Model, if you need the part numbers or would like us to supply them then just give us a shout, all depends if you want them to be original, because these items are not cheap from VAG.
But they do look the part and all your VW stamps are visible when you look hard enough, they have an orange filter so no coloured bulbs required, plug & play with a good fit basically.
