Had 2 sets of their components in an A3 and my old Mk2 and they were fantastic.  The 11" utopia sub is supposed to be amazing too.  The only reason I went for JL's in my Mk2 now is because I got them extremely cheap!

The only thing that lets them down is they are made in France

i remember when they first came on the scene and ive had 2 lots of 6x9's, 1 set of components and i cant fault them mate. The quality of sound is excellent, they are similar to Rockford products and they underate the actual output.

Focal are very good but I find them quite sharp and a bit too bright for my liking.

They are one of the better SQ makes.

Also, you get what you pay for generally. So depends on how into car audio you are, as to whether they're worth it.

Ive just had fitted focal speakers fitted in my audi A4 (front & rear) and Im not really that impressed  :embarassed:

They where expensive and I expected great quality sound but I would say they sound no better than my standard audi speakers.

In fact id go so far to say the original speakers handled bass alot better and sounded better

Just my opinion

How are they installed?

Are they amped?

They were installed by Autosounds, Newcastle. Straight swap for the originals.

I didn't get amp fitted with them so it'll be the original amp..............

I know they would be better with an amp but I still expected more than ive got, plus I have to go back saturday cause one of the front speakers isn't putting out any sound

All in all I think its £500 not very well spent so far  :embarassed:

Car manufacturers spend millions on designing audio for your car. Buying a better quality aftermarket and just "chucking it in" the standard location won't guarantee improved sound. The standard speakers were designed specifically to work in those locations.

I would of expected a reputable installer to of suggested, almost forced me to get them to build thicker stronger baffles bolted to door skin and deaden the doors.

Stereo is 90% installation, 10% equipment.

Without sounding rude for you to pay £500 for a set of speakers, unamped, thrown in the standard locations. They saw you coming mate.

Focal are good! They do an excellent 5" bass unit! I was going to use them but they were too deep for the application I wanted.

+1

if i buy them, i'll be running them off my new pioneer headunit, i.e. AVH-3300BT. Really hope that will help the sound quality
