I've just had a look on the VW configurator - the cost of my car new is a whopping £27,999
That's an increase of 5K in 18 months!!
VAT increase, annual price increase and all that but 19% ( adjusted for discount) is just silly.
-
£30770
-
£31,230 without mods!!
-
Ouch.
I really couldn't afford my car if I ordered it now.
-
£31,589.00
-
£36,180

SteveP
That's R money, is that with or without mods??
Serious motor car though
-

That's the factory spec for mine without my own mods
Mine has every option except rear airbags and park assist :nerd:
Mine was a three month old dealer demo so I paid way less than that :smug:
-
£32,084
-
Mine's weighing in like a positive bargain at a mere £26,110.00
I paid about £21k for it in 2009 as a 'lovingly cherished' 5 month old ex dealer thrash car that was probably never warmed up, cooled down, run in or anything else a sane human being would do to a new car.
I never used to keep a car more than about 18 months, I never really planned on keeping this one that long. Trouble is I've had it 18 months now and have sort of become attached to it, literally attached to it - I was just installing my new warty gear knob when I pinched the skin on my fingers as I pushed down on the plastic trim to secure it. My fingers are now stuck permanently into the centre console and I'm sat here hunched in the drivers seat typing this with my nose.
(that was meant to be a joke by the way, I still haven't found a suitably sized hose clip to stick around the shaft)
-
£28,195
Increased by a few hundred pounds.
Brought back great memories though!
-
£28,065.
At this rate i won't be able to afford another GTi when i come to upgrade next time.
Happened last time though. Had an R32, couldn't afford the R, so went for the GTI. Suppose it'll be a GT for me next time.
-
Thank God I can afford to buy the Golf. Paid not too far off 30 grand which Is a bit of a shock.
The Polo GTI looks far better value and still goes like stink. It's also bigger than a mark 2 golf. Still like the Golf though and will change it for another when the new model comes out though I will no doubt have to cut down on the extras
-
I'm convinced we will see a more affordable Golf GTI when the MK7 comes out. The current price does reflect the high build costs that VW have with the MK5 and MK6.
I just can't see VW pricing the MK7 GTI's starting at around £30k, with extra's that puts is very close to the price of an Audi RS3!

£28209 new now. (without including any retrofits).
I paid a large amount less than that. I paid less for mine than most people pay for a used ones in the past year but its not a high spec. I also paid less for it than someone i know who has bought a polo GTI with only a few options which makes me go :smug:
I was offered SteveP's car from Matt before Steve got it but ruled it out as it was too expensive for me at over £6K more than mine was going to be.
-
Mine would now cost £29,150, gone up £2,600 in a year
-
A fully specced GTI would now cost £37,204

£39714
That's adding the RNS510 to the configurator which I fitted myself.
I'm glad I bought it a year ago (tomorrow!). Just had my 1 year service done
-
I know I'm only a GT Tdi but FFS its gone up £2700, My invoice price is £20300 and bulid new is £22924 thats day light robbery. Just for a laugh I put my reg into we buy any car (so we can rip u off) and they offered me £12000..
If I took the 18" wheels I now have thats another £400
Sold to the robbing T**T on the advert.... er not
-
 £28,209
And that's without the options I would have spec'd if I'd bought it new such as parking sensors; xenons etc.
edit: £33,669 with the toys added!!
-
Mine is now £28,447 without the numerous retro-fits.
With these it is £31,677.
If ordered from the factory it would be £32,777.
Oh, and £986 for winter tyres.
Grand total = £33,763.
Expensive for a medium size family hatchback.
£1000 more to spend on new Goodyear Summer tyres and a Re-map.
-
Mine now comes in at £34,035
That's without any of my mods or retrofits .

£30364 now
thats ~£6000 more than i would have paid back then
Simply put i would not buy one if i was looking now.

Second car I hope.
-
A bit OT.
Was going to drive the Merc C Class Sport 350 CDI 7-Speed Auto for a couple of weeks. Not used to automatics so I nearly crashed it! It is bloody fast and could show up a standard GTI (like mine) but it is nowhere near as wonderful as Wolfgang/GTI. So parked it and threw the keys in the drawer and took the tube.
Feels really good to have made the right choice. :smug:
-
A fully specced GTI would now cost £37,204
A fully specced Golf R with accessories would cost £42,438
The RS3 I had on order was £42,370
Mad pricing or what!!

Or I have been saving up money for years
The funny part is that I have not yet seen any other mk6 GTI's in the city. When I think about it, I havent seen any mk6 GTI's at all haha. Wonder why
I must be mad
