Yeah they're gonna poke a bit. My mate runs ET35 15x7's on a wide track and they're pretty much flush with the arches.

I think you will struggle to get them under the arches.

Offset is a little high.

Mine runs 15 x 8 ET 10 and they sit nearly flush at the front, flush at the rear on g60 arches. Id have no chance on GTI's.

Rears are going down to ET0.

Have you used willtheyfit.com?

I'll try that Luke but how much wider are the mk3 stuff compared to mk2 do I think I'd need spacers I'd get 15s but didn't think they would clear 288mm brakes ?

Clearance looks fine on the wheels on that compared to the wheels that are on it at the min hmmmm really not sure what to do

the rear beams i honestly dont think have any thing in it in terms of being bigger. but supposedly half inch over all front and back.
15's do go over but it depends on the wheels and its ofset. I had to do some grinding on the callipers to get mine to clear but they are sold as to fit directly onto a mk3 with 288 discs.

iv got porsche 928 8" on my widetrack which are et52.3 + 20mm spacers = ET32.3 and no probs at all with 215/40/16 tyres on coilovers, admitadly id like to go lower but if i have the arches rolled i can go as low as i like there will be no issues. it is pretty low already though, (about 50-60mm ish) but if i go another 20 ish i might get abit of rub untill i roll the arch lips.

Mk3 16v's and VRs came with 15in wheels as standard. So 15's should fit no problem over 288mm brakes, they're not that big. I've managed to fit 14's over 280mm disc/calipers withoutout modification despite everyone advising to the contrary. Failing that take some detailed measurements and take the guess work out of it
