Title: HELP!! Mk4 GTI Turbo overheating?
Post by: rtking449 on 21 March 2005, 10:05
Im posting this for my mate who owns a 51plate 1.8T.The car has only done 30000mls with FVAGSH bur all of a sudden whilst driving the temp gauge goes from 90 degrees up to 130 and the onscreen display tells him to stop as youd expect. The engine water level is fine so is the oil.We are positive the car is not "boiling up" and think its an electrical fault.Does anyone else have experience with this problem and know of the cure?
Cheers Richie

Sounds like it could be a faulty engine temperature sensor, get one from the main stealer and change it. Hopefully it will fix it.

Have a look in the MK4 section. These suffer with water pump faults, over heat when under load, but usally run normal on tickover.
