Title: Another but slightly different remap question
Post by: Davstylee on 08 April 2011, 12:36
Hi people

My friend just invested in one of these http://www.tmcmotorsport.com/Product.aspx for his Abarth Punto Evo and says it is amazing. They do one for the MK5 but I have a few questions.

1.   Has anyone ever used this product before? If so what did you think?
2.   Do you think this will work well with the DSG gear box?

The thing that attracts me is that it is a piggy back ECU so when I come to sell the GTI I can just remove it and the car will be back to stock.

Sorry it is another question about remapping (piggy back ECU) but I just want some clarity before shelling out £289 for one.

Thanks in advance.

Don't do it!

That sort of gizmo will cause you to fail your mot next year.

Hi

Thanks for the in put, but the whole idea of me getting a piggy back ECU is so that I can remove it when it comes to getting my MOT and servicing the car. That said, why would it cause me to fail my MOT anyway, I’m intrigued now?

Thanks

Remap is still the better choice.

Thanks for the replies guys, what remap would you suggest then? I am looking for one that allows you to turn the map on and off. I know the Bluefin lets you do this, but I have also seen some negative comments on them. I also want a remap that works with my DSG. I know REVO do a DSG map type thing but do they also do a map that you can turn on and off?

Revo do a select switch. Its on their website, take a look (their website uses some flash / java thing so I cant link to it).
