As title. In traffic I could hear the fuel pump make a noise similar to a struggling chordless drill. It eventualy gave up and no longer primed etc. The engine has been stalling for a few weeks now and my guess is to this.
Left it for a few hours and then worked again.
I did a search and the results come up with a lift pump problem and not main pump. Surely its the main pump?
I have a spare fuel pump off a 'PF' engine digifant (with carbon canister)
So I can run this pump and block off the extra pipe yes? (one for RJ and Danny)

lift pump died a while ago, causing the main pump to struggle till it died too. the 2 pumps are run inline, so if main and lift pumps are not priming they're both dead. could be relay problem tho, try bridging the 2 large pins on the fuel pump relay socket with a bit of wire see if pumps activate

if its a lift pump issue, you can buy the bare pump from GSF for around £28. very easy to fit into the orginal lift pump assembly
-
thanks for that. I went to vw @ £40 - ouch! But I dont have a Euro parts or a GSF near me so sod it.
I did disconnect the two lift pump fuel lines and prime the pump with ignition...No fuel came out!
Hopefuly this new pump should cure the problem.

I paid a 5er delivery costs for a load of parts a few weeks back.. All the parts were correct, but after ordering them, half of the bits came up listed as seat toledo on my reciept! It must be the fact some mk2 parts are shared with the toledo. Did worry me a bit though!to make the 5er delivery worth it order loads of parts at the same time to warrant it.. That's my excuse anyway

the frount end of a seat tolado is a mk2 golf tho somewhat more ugly

VW supplied me with the wrong pump so thats going back. Bonus is that ive saved £20
Thanks for that boys! Appreciate it.
