Title: Rear break light bulb
Post by: Snooze on 06 April 2011, 19:42
This may sound like a silly question, but is it an easy job to change a rear breaklight bulb myself?  Any advice/tips would be much appreciated!  Thanks

Which one? the ones in the hatch are a doddle. The others are also easy to get at from inside the car once you expose it by lifting the carpet back.

1. Pull carpet away in corner of boot.

2. Using spanner available in repair kit in spare wheel, undo two black plastic nuts.

3. Unclip the wire unit from the bulb holder, flatblade screwdriver from the repair kit is useful.

4. Light cluster slides out.

5. Use flatblade screwdriver to gently prise the bulb holder out of lens unit (if plastic is very cold can be britle and snap, so heat a little if necessary).

6. Replace bulb.

7. Clip bulb holder back ito lens unit.

8. Slide cluster back into position.

9. Clip wire plug back in.

10. Fasten nuts back on.

11. Replace carpet.

It's a little fiddily the first time but it's an easy job overall. The instructions that biggaz41 posted are correct. There's even a slit in the boot carpet where you need to pull away.
