Hi all, this is a pic of my sisters golf. I'm wondering how much it has been lowered by
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/tidypug/Picture.jpg).
I've had a look at the springs and dampers, the springs are red and the shocks are yellow, anyone any ideas what make they could be?
The second problem i have is with the wiring. The last owner has put a wire from the back of the fuse box and linked it to the back of the rear heated window switch. The problem is that when this wire is disconnected the wipers, heater fan, rear heated screen, rear fog light and stereo go off and work again when its re-attached. This wire becomes very warm when everything is turned on and i am a bit worried about a fire. Anyone any ideas?

that looks like a 40mm drop :undecided:
-
thanks mate, i've tiedied up the wiring best i can so that will have to do
-
looks like 60mm 2 me
-
My mk3 is only dropped 40mm, and your looks the same as mine, even tho I do think i was supplied with the wrong suspension kit as I think 60mm is more likely what both mine and your car has been dropped
-
looks about 40mm as mine is a 60mm drop and you can only just see the top of my tyres. I am running 17's though...

-
id say abt 40 as it looks the same as mine.
i think gmax are also yellow and red
-
more importantly how old is your sister?
-

lol
Back on the topic, I'd say 40mm, looks slightly more because the pic is not taken square on I reckon. Mine lowering springs are red and they are Ventura. :undecided:

i was gonna say 60mm, but not sure, summat around there, measure how far it is from the sill to the floor and i'll measure mine then u can tell exactly
-
The measurement you need make is from the centre of the wheelarch to the centre of your wheel hub, this gives a more accurate as it isn't affected by tyre profiles/pressures or anything. I would say the drop is about 40mm, is it an 8 or 16v though as they start off with a 10mm difference in ride height.
-
It would be a right b!tch trying to measure from the centre of the wheel arch wouldn't it? it would be a bit of guess lining the tape measure up.
Looking at the inlet manifold in the pic, it most be a 16v? (I'm no expert on golf's, but that doesn't look like my 8v!).
-
i'd say 40mm drop, but the real answer to the question is NOT LOW ENOUGH!!!!

not really, you just get a decent ruler/tape and measure directly up from the centre cap. you'll only be off by a tiny amount this way and it is the only definate way of measuring the drop like tobz said.
