Now i know that at some point in 1990 all valvers came as Big bumper models, but does anyone know how many GTI 16v's were made on a G reg?
-
Surly that depends on if the 16valves are still in the right car. Mines a g but the engines out of a e.
-
Not really fella, not asking about modified vehicles, am asking about how many ORIGINAL 90 reg small buper valver were made.
-
But how can you tell these days. I would suspect quite a few still as small bumpers are much cooler
-
Because the car is completely 100% original, the arches are small bumper, the factory decals are from small bumper model etc etc.
Ttbomk at some point in 90 they ALL became Big bumper, just wondered how many small bumpers got through in 90 before the changeover
-
Not many, I've seen a few about though.

I'd read that the first big bumpers were registered in September 1989, meaning in theory, small bumpers on a G plate were only sold for 1 month. There would have been a few that would have been left over and sold later, but back then, GTI's were being sold as fast as they could build them.

My car is a small bumper 89 16v, registered mid December 89 iirc, small bumper cars were hanging around for some time, after production ended, simply because everyone wanted the new bb model, which sounds about right...

My Valver is completely standard and is on a G plate, well it was before I got the private plate, but that will be going on something else in the future.
Didn't know they were only made for a month on G's - interesting stuff!
