Title: Congestion charging -
Post by: javsta on 05 April 2011, 18:20
hey peeps

I dont believe this got a bleeding congestion charging fine for driving a bluemotion golf

apparantly whilst the emissions are low the golf does not meet euro 5 standards of air quality therefore summoned with a pcn

however according to this site I am told otherwise:
http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/volkswagen-world/news/277/polo-and-golf-bluemotion-now-exempt-from-london-congestion-charge

I admit that I did not have an account therefore I am partially to blame for this but VW are also in the wrong for providing in accurate information

I'd get on to VW head office, this is the sort of thing their Public relations team will want to hide, as a result they may even offer to pay the fine for you...

In order to qualify you have to send a registration form off that is on the congestion zone website. Someone hasn't done it or they have not received it

To be fair VW does actually quote on that page you linked "Customer must register with the TfL and make an annual £10 payment per vehicle. Failure to register will result in a fine".

Granted - the car does need to be registered, however TFL are saying the vehicle is euro standard 4 and are saying ithe golf bluemotion is not exempt from congestion charging at all.

VW according to their website are saying the car is exempt subject to it being registered. but if the application is rejected all together due to the vehicle not being able to meet the euro standards then VW is decieving people and Im pretty certain this would be a good story for the car mags

Based on the CO2 output at 99g/km, it's exempt. I have a friend with a Polo BM and it's the same output. He never has a problem.

Cheers AGB looks like I have recieved some incorrect info from TFL.

He took my registration number popped it into his system and said your not eligible- just checked on DVLA and its saying it should be exempt.

I think I will have to proceed with due care and attention.

LATEST UPDATE:

I have just been informed by VW after investigating the whole matter that the vehicle I have is NOT a bluemotion and it is infact a GOLF MATCH with BLUEMOTION TECHNOLOGY.

I appreciate what they saying buy I am still not happy regarding the claim they have on the website:

"Not only are the highly efficient Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion and Golf BlueMotion models exempt from road tax but, as of this week, they are also exempt from the London Congestion Charge.*"

I just want peoples opinion of they how would interepret the above just to see ifI have a substantive case against them. according to me last time I chekced definition for model it was a variety or multiple of an object therefore in this context would interpret as ALL GOLFS + ALL POLO Bluemotions.

??????

Exactly right not a chance me thinks as yours is at the end of the day a "match" specification car just with a sprinkle of bluemotion technology e.g stop start

So the car you have bought is not a golf bluemotion.
