Title: mk2 brake servo & mastercylinder
Post by: CWK357Y on 07 September 2003, 07:33
before i go putting massive amounts of power into my little mk1 i'm going to be playing with the brakes. does anyone know if replacing the whole of the linkage bar with the set up directly from a mk 2? i mean welding in the relavant parts onto the bulkhead to bring the master cylinder and servo to the right hand side of the car? surely this would be a worthy mod, then upgrade to aftermarket or better VW calipers, disks and pads?
please give me some feed back!

I think you will find it wont fit due to lack of clearance behind the engine, though i belive you can fit just the master cylinder.
I fitted the 16v M/C and servo with rear discs and 256mm fronts onto a MK1 16v conversion and boy they stopped it!
Hope this helps. :)

Go with what old boy says, go for servo and master cylinder upgrade, much easier than trying to rip all of the linkage out.
