Just wondering aside from obviously the engine and its attachments, what is necessary to change to convert a Mk3 1.4 Golf to 1.9 TDI
i know alot of you will say just buy a TDI... but i like my golf, it being a bit faster and more economical would be alot better... and also there are no 3 door TDI's so having a 3 door TDI would be kinda cool
Thanks

sorry put this in the wrong section! could a mod please move it :embarassed:

Buy a TDI, much easier.
-
best way would prob be buy a donor tdi and swap everything over as you'l prob need virtually everything, fuel tank, fuel lines engine ecu ect

In which case your probably better off just buying and using the diseasle

Loom is different too I think... really not worth the hassle if it were me.

Find a Golf4 130 PD TDI that's been rear ended and fit that. It is the only way of saving this project from going to hell.

o well, i dont want to be mucking around with the loom and stuff
reason i asked is because my friend has a TDI which is soon to be scrapped so i could have got everything off that

You will need to change the loom, ecu, radiator, also driveshafts and hubs are different
Major ballache.

Agreed.
You should scrap your car instead. It deserves some dignity.
