Title: Mechatronics broken again
Post by: snakehips on 04 April 2011, 21:57
Last year my GTi's DSG wasn't changing well and the dealer swapped out the mechatronics unit under warranty. For 3 glorious months it was superb but recently the gear change has got worse and worse so that now the car almost bunny hops along the road. So of course I'm booked to take the car back in but have you ever heard of a new mechatronics unit failing so quickly from new? Or maybe there is another cause?

I don't suppose there's any particular reason why the new mechatronics unit *shouldn't* fail, but I think the fault that you and I have both had fixed was to do with a particular batch of them.

Sorry to hear your news, it's worrying. Will it be covered under warranty?

The dealers gave it extended road tests and claim there is nothing wrong. That is depressing. I know my car and I know it is not behaving properly, but maybe too subtle for someone else to detect. They suggest that its fuzzy logic has adapted to my style of driving, but I'm pretty sure that my style does not involve bunny hopping.
