going to be getting some Autoart hella twin style headlights for my mk3 next month. They come with black surrounds but I want them colour coded to satin silver.
Anyone got any ideas what sort of money im looking at for colour matching and spraying? Not much to paint but realise that doesn't make it cheap!

Ball park figure would be around a £100+vat as a booked in paying job. offer cash though, and you'll probably get it done for a lot less!

Hmmm, cheers, thought it would be that sort of amount.
what about a DIY job? What is involved in priming etc on the black plastic before spraying? I assume I could get a paint match direct from VW
anyone done their own?

Parts may well already be in primer, check by comparing the inner hidden side, to the outer visible side, if there is a difference in colour/texture, then this points to the part already being primed, so just gently key the primer with Grey Scotchbrite and soapy water, degrease, base coat, then lacquer as normal...
If the part needs priming, then use an aerosol plastic primer (Halfords) then, if the parts are of high quality plastic, and free of defects, you can paint straight over the plastic primer, as above. If the plastic isn't top quality, then it will be necessary to use a high build aerosol primer, OVER the plastic primer... this should then be carefully flatted with flatted with 1200 wet/dry, then base coated, and lacquered...
