I've got an almost-complete ABF conversion being done, and now that it's in, the mk3 airbox is too tall to fit I'm looking at what I can stuff on the end of the intake instead.
Is there a general consensus on what's a decent option here? I know induction kits are generally regarded and all bark and negative bite, but it seems like that's the only option... :undecided:

Seat Toledo / Ibiza or mk2 diesel
Other option; http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=175822.msg1654960#msg1654960

best is SEAT Ibiza/Toledo ABF, as it has the inlet air temp sensor fitting in. otherwise MK2/SEAT Diesel/SPI airbox fits, you just have to relocate the inlet air temp sensor. on my mate james' abf we stuffed the sensor inside the front of the airbox where the cold air feed goes

Awesome, thanks. Think I'll go with a cheap 'other option' of cone filter until I can get my hands on a proper airbox.
-
found mine went better with the std air box, DH has had simalar experiances with cone filters iirc
-
So a mk3 ABF airbox doesn't fit at all in the engine bay of a mk2?
-
nope... i need to invest in one of the above lol

Bugger. I reckon I'll just butcher mine. Have a cone filter too so will work something.

oh yer you can definately bodge something but for OEMness the 2 box's stated above look the best

Cheers for that, do you happen to know what the difference is? Ie, top or bottom being shallower as the ibiza had a polo engine bay iirc.

The mk3 abf box is way too tall, I bought one thinking it'd work but need seat ibiza airbox, which are like gold dust! Couldnt find anything so just used the iat from the mk3 one and bought a cone filter, untill I can find a box. It's bout £180 new.

Snap! Doh. Ah well c'est la vie. I have a minted ABF airbox though to butcher

Toledo fits best - it's a Golf2 up front!
My Syncro runs out of puff with the cone above 100mph. I need to do a back to back test, but the Corrado, running the OEM Toledo airbox doesn't seem to suffer these issues.

I'll try and find one of them, pointless me fitting the new fuelling system to bog it down with a cone filter!
