Looks good :afro:
Personally I'd take the second Gti badge off the front grill and put standard mirrors back on, other than that I really like it!
-
that was in my mates garage about 2 months ago, looked like a write off but the bloke insisted in having repaired and cutting corners. Front end looked bad......

I hate those wheels but they actually look quite good on a MKIII. I feel like I need a shower now though, lol.

That's funny! The seller is Badboynova8 yet i wouldn't expect someone with that name to be selling magnolia lamp shades and a Star Trek box set...

car sometimes misfires for a sec now and then ive been told
Does he own the car or not? Or has he just never turned it on?

Just took a chance mate,I wasn't going to bid no higher than 700

Quality
bought it but want to much to insure it so got to sell it even though i love it.
Would you not check the insurance 1st.
-
the insurance quote is normally a typical bought it for £300 and selling it on line, most like never intended insuring it, abit of a wannabe home trader

or he bought it and never looked round it and thought get shut its going to cost to much, i would be looking round it with a fine tooth pick

Picked it up today and I'm very pleased with it,it's very clean,so must have had a respray at some point,no service history with it,so it's booked in for a cambelt change Thursday,I'll be changing the oil, plugs etc, got the scratch and dent man coming Friday, to sort out the scratch on door.I'll be changing both front seats,as the leathers split, and I'll be raising the back end up slightly,I think I'll keep the wheels for now,and save up for some different wheels for summer, all in all the cars cost me £900 after I've had the work done, which isn't too bad( the mirrors will be getting changed)
-
bloody hell thats not a bad price.. you are nearly in mk4 1.8t territory though

My girlfriends got a v5 they just seem really heavy to drive,I'm not too fussed about the speed,at the moment you can still make a mk3 look really good, and they're cheap to run
-
the V5 is heavy lol

Yep, not that good a choice, 1.8t ftw.
-
Looks a nice motor that nice colour and I think the wheels suit it hope it turns out to be a gooden
-
I managed to have a proper look round the car today,I solved the misfire problem, which was the airflow meter not being plugged in properly, now runs sweet, there's a couple of bubbles of rust on the drivers door, and the drivers seat is totally shot,I'm going to have a go at the spraying myself as it hardly cost me anything in the first place,I'm pleased the engine issue was just a plug,I was getting ready to change all the sensors and plugs etc,but saw they had already been changed,so done a search on here, saved me £££s toasted other things

The maf could have been unplugged due to the fact it is / was playing up.

V5 kicks MK2 1.8 ass
-
V5 is an okay engine... just in the wrong golf.
If there was a V5 in a MK2 it would kick a 1.8 MK2's arse, however in a MK4 or a Beetle they're just gay.

I'd prefer to think that the V5 engine in the Beetle dilutes the car's perceived gayness a little. It certainly makes it faster (in a straight line) than a MK2 16 valver, despite the extra weight etc.
-
So... you can arrive at the salon quicker in the beetle so you can have your girl thingy waxed before your golf driving counterparts!

Of course, dahhling ;)

In all seriousness though, the beetle is a great car.

The Golf platform is wonderful indeed, particularly with a diesel powerplant.
-
Doesn't look bad for the money ,with a few tweaks here and there you'll hopefully have a decent motor.
-
I just dont understand why I didnt get a decent offer for mine but then others go for £700??!! Looks nice anyway mate.

Thought I'd fixed the hesitation,it's now got lumpy idle,so next step is to clean the throttle body and then try some sensors, front grille now painted same colour as the car and rear coilovers raised
