Hi all am going to be swapping my 2.0 GTI for a 1.8T as my father has a mk 3 vr6 so need and want something quicker :D
Does anyone know which model is the best one as ive done a bit of research and come across quite a few.
Ive seen a 150bhp,180bhp, Anniversary model? Also will they all have a GTI or GTi badge on them?
Cheers guys

welcome
depends how much u wana spend mate the anni,s ur looking around 6-7k for a decent 1
a decent 1.8t 2k

would be looking to trade in mine for about 2,500 then prob another 1k-1.5k so under 4k.
Would it be better to get a v5 170bhp rather than the 1.8T 150bhp? Which is better to tune?

Welcome. 1.8T is far easier to tune.

welcome, go for a 1.8t

Hi & Welcome

defo 1.8t
ive seen some great tune ups of that engine at awesome in manchester.
i have bora 4 motion at the moment, and a tunned 1.8t would see it off (although not off a standing start cause of the awd!) the one thing to watch is get it tunned well. dont max the remap or go for a cheap remap as your turbo is likly to give up after a while!
find a quality low miles, fsh example of the 1.8t and save 800 quid back for some quality mods, revo remap, diverters and throttle body re alighned full inductiion etc.
i had a remmapped 2.7 bi turbo s4, my fav car so far but was always worried about the turbo's going, would have cost me over 3k to fix
4 motion golf could be a quick option with full system and full induction? but more fun would be had with a tunned 1.8t i recon?
welcome dude, im loving this forum already!

cheers guys for the replies :)
been looking around and it seems the 150bhp is far easier to find as i want to get it from a garage no private :)
so come end of may ill be trading in what you lot call the 2.slow GTI :D and getting a new 1.8T for under 4k. Seen a few all with roughly between 67-80k miles so seems good to me :D
