Depends on your budget and what you want from the car really
The problem you will encounter with throttle bodies on a standard 8v engine is that as the heads are counterflow you will have clearance issues and airflow issues as the bodies will be at the rear of the engine and directly above the exhaust manifold
Simplest options are
1/ if you want to remain 8v fit a 2.0 bottom end, p&p head and cam
2/ convert to a 16v from a mk3

Hi there and welcome to the site. As sated with the 8v you run into problems with where the inlet is situated. You can either tune what you have, polished head, cam and put a 2ltr bottom end on a get maybe 140bhp ( exactly what you'd get from a stock 1.8 16v) Or an ABF from seats, mk3 golf/ passat will yield 150bhp from the box. 16vs respond to TB's/ carbs better due to their lay out. Turbo it, supercharge it...

Depends on your budget and what you want it to do.
