First post, so be gentle.
I run a MK3 GTi 8V, no it's not that bad :-), and was looking at the MK5 2.0FSi as a possible replacement until a guy I know who is an experienced VAG technician told me that the engines are not all that reliable and are prone to overheating and the associated problems this brings. Probably something to do with the lean running of the FSi models. Has anyone on here got any experience/thoughts on this. It really put me off that model even though it seems to fit most of my requirements and, before you suggest it, the 2.0GTTDi doesn't really float my boat.
Thanks.

hello i have worked on audi and vw cars at main dealers and branded break down assistance and never once came across this problem and remember audi have been running the fsi engine 2-3 years longer than vw

Thanks K REG MK2 GTI, I'll put it back on my list for further investigation.
