Hi, on my gear linkage there is a small white cog which has a black rubber bush that fits over it. This bush became worn and would ride up over the white cog, leaving a lot of play with the gearlever when in neutral and in gear. Unfortunately this bush became so worn it has come off and my local VW dealer seems unable to recognise the existence of this bush, leaving a lot of movement in the gearlever while in gear. Does anybody know of the bush I mean? If so where can I find a replacement as all the gear linkage bush kits on ebay fail to include this rubber bush! Any help would be gratefully received!

Is it the ball on the relay shaft?

I used a skateboard wheel as a temp replacement, worked beautifully. Was a worn down one though.

If you are going to replace those bits, I would recommend getting a weighted linkage too. It makes the whole feel of the shift better.

Your VW deakler probably struggled to find the relay shaft bush cos it is not listed separately.
Whole relay shaft incl bush is 191 711 173B but is listed as £50 - hmmmm!

Thanks for your help, it is the bush on the relay shaft. Where might I get one cheaper than from the dealer for £50?!

Mine came from GSF, but I'm sure they are on ebay too.
