Hey everybody,
I am thinking of getting a MK5 Golf, but I keep hearing a lot about the engine management light coming on!
What is the usual cause of this? Is it easily fixable? Is it possible to permanently fix it (IE, it coming on when something is actually wrong).
Cheers

To be honest I've not seen this reported as a common fault and the only way of knowing what the engine management light is on for is to scan the vehicle with VAGCOM.
The bigger issue seems to be the ABS light and often this entails a replacement ABS part which is pricey - up to 1k in some circumstances or so it seems.
Bear in mind you've not said which Golf you are interested in other than Mk5 - there are a great many and although this site tries to cater for all you have to remember it's not called www.golfgti.co.uk for nowt!

Yeah, I appreciate that. I think I am looking to get a 1.4 FSE. Think its called that any way, not sure what it stands for.

Yes see what the code is, repair the fault and then clear the codes.
