Right after much consideration i've chose to go Route KR, a friend is currently dropping a VR6 into his Mk2 16v So the engine is surplus... I'm going on a mates judgement here and he reckons the engine is fine.? I know for a fact its a lil smokey when given some but the most important bit is there is no knocking etc and it runs fine.
Would anybody do me a quick checklist on things I'll need from my mates 16v in order to convert mine to a 16v, i'm going to use K-Jet inj system for the time being untill i can afford something a lil more Full bodied?
After reading random post's I think I'll need:
Engine
Box
Driveshafts
256mm Brakes (already have)
Fuel lines ? ? ? <-? Can anybody advise
Fuel pump's<- Will i need a new fuel tank as well or can i use the current one and drop the internal fuel pump into it?
Is that all for the mechanical stuff, my next problem is the wiring.? The engine is from a CE2 (90 spec) golf, So for ease of use would it be fairly easy to convert to ce2 wiring??
Sooo many questions.
Cheers if u can help - GT
Ohhh important bit... Mines a 1987 F reg Golf 1.3

just a quick question! why build something you can buy? it would be cheaper (insurance etc) to sell you car and that engine and stuff and buy a 16v.

Find me a sunroofless Golf, small bumper 16v with manual windows / No central locking etc and i would lol.

you will need
engine , gearbox, driveshafts, engine mounts , fuel pump in tank, main fuel pump, exhaust, engine wire loom, rear wire loom ( from rear lights fuel pumps etc), idle control unit (behind centre console and wireing to it) , relays, fuel pipes as they are bigger, heatshield at bulk head to stop brake fluid boiling up , dash loom and fuse box , rear disc brakes , compencator, brake servo , re route rear brake pipes for compensator, black box in (under scuttle panel) drivers side , gear linkage (inc pole from gear box to gear knob) as your will be too short, bigger battery, suspension upgrade as 1.3 too soft and sloppy, anti roll bar front, also preferable rear axle for rear anti roll bar, hand brke cables if converting to rear discs, coil, radiator, cooling fan, 14 inch wheels or bigger, cant think of any more but if i do i will tell you . you will not need the fuel tank as pump fitts in . just did this conversion on my golf last year. all goes ok. it is easyier if you have a doner car as i did.
you wont get all these parts from your freind as he will need some for his conversion.
have fun!!!!
