Title: Corrado to mk4 gti
Post by: AJ_EQ on 30 March 2011, 22:39
Hello all, am new over here.

Still have my Corrado VR6, but am in the market for mk4 1.8T.  Ive got my eye on one, which has various mods on it, but am not totally sure how I would go about this with the insurance.  Dont want to increase my premium too much and minor changes to a car seem affect it drastically in the 18-25 catergory, so Ive heard.  Cant wait for the no hassle of 25....

Anyway greeting all.

Hi Mate, if you've got a VR6 already then to be honest i cant see switching to a mk4 making a huge difference insurance wise

Hi all,

tbh I dont want to sell my corrado, it drives/sounds like a dream (when it works).  Was considering turbo'ing it at one point, but was recommended that it could need a complete engine overhaul before any work could begin.  This would have been too much of a drain on my wallet, so maybe something to consider when im uber rich.  Need a more fuel efficient daily driver for work now.

This is what I had my eyes on :

1999 Golf mk4 gti 1.8T (150bhp) 107k, ko3s uprgrade, Forge d/v, full turbo back large bore non resonating discreet tail miltek stainless exhaust.  Lowered (not on coilovers )  New cambelt, uprated water pump.  Remapped at cc-tuning 209bhp 273ft/lbs torque.

Interior: Heated leather recaros, climate control, e/w, e/m, e/sr

Dude is chucking in:  Stainless tubular manifold, 4 bar fuel regulator and VR6 throttle body.
Also Im probably going to buy his intercooler kit off him for £150.
Oh its black 3 door btw.

Back to my confusion of insurance.  I dont know whether to tell them that the parts that the dude is chucking along with the probability of a stage 2, has in fact already happened.  I know insurance companies hate when you mod cars particularly at my age.

The best thing about the car:  It looks standard , though might get an r32 roof spoiler.

*will look for corrado pics now.
