Title: ABS light problem on Mk3 Gti 16v
Post by: ChrisDye on 17 March 2005, 19:34
Having a bit of a nightmare with the ABS light on my car.  Put it into a garage and they came to the conclusion that it was a knackered o/s/r sensor.  That's now been replaced and it's still coming on!
Basically just wanted to know if anyone has had this problem.  There a short vibrating rattle just before the light comes on and this normally happens after the car has been running for about 30-45 minutes.
Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated as the garage that's checking the car out reckon it's a wiring problem...pretty sure it isn't though!
Cheers

Chris

when my ABS light came on i took it to a garage and they plugged it in to their machine to read the fault codes, it came up with n/s/r speed sensor (n/s/r ABS sensor). the sensor was about ?25 - ?30 from GSF. it took about half an hour to fit.

they claimed to have had it hooked up to read the fault code...but maybe they were talking a load of bollocks.  Think I need to get it into a vw dealer this weekend to get them to plug it in.

could be the new sensor i paid ?60 for a genuine vw one you get what you pay for  so they say still would take it to vw see what they think or buy yourself a vag-com/lead  off ebay ?30 or so might work out cheaper.
