Hey folks.
hope all is well in GTI land. Just had new milltek exhaust fitted so i'm still bit excited and geting used to the new rumble it makes, very nice !! anyhow, the garage told me that during the road test after exhaust was fitted my dump valve was making a leaky air-splutter noise so sounds like the rubber seal has been worn on the stock valve. They have recommended an after market replacement unit without the rubber seal which is supposed to last lots longer (quote about ?80). Can anyone recommend a brand or give any advice on replacemnt as this will be the first time i've done it.

I have the Bailey DV30 on my octy. Copes with 250 pnnies with no problems.
I tried the hyperboost and forge dv's but found the bailey sounded better :grin:

i think the guy in the VW specialist was trying to flog me the hyperbosst unit. The only thing i'm a bit concerned with is the audible tones from the engine, i don't want a loud noticeable hissing coming from the bonnet, would prefer it to be more descrete.

HKS/Neuspeed Blow-off Valve Kit 1.8T
NEUSPEED's new blow-off valve kit features HKS' Super Sequential Blow-off Valve (SSQV). The (SSQV) is a dual stage pull type relief valve. Unlike other blow off valves that are push type, the SSQV will not leak under high boost conditions nor under vacuum at idle. Being of a pull type valve structure, the SSQV cannot physically leak under any level of boost because boost pressure also keeps the valve closed against its seat. The SSQV is actuated by pressure alterations only, not by the rate of pressure or vacuum in the line, which ensures a quick valve response and complete closure during idle. On typical blow-off valve designs, a large valve is utilized in order to accommodate high boost / high horsepower applications. However, these large valves tend to react slowly and require high activation pressure to open, therefore are not able to activate and prevent compressor surge at light-load, low-boost conditions. On the other hand, smaller, fast reacting valves do not discharge the airflow capacity required for high horsepower applications and tend to creep open and leak as the boost pressure overpowers the spring on these push type valves. For maximum performance, the HKS SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, along with a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The SSQV is engineered to initially open the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions, then sequentially opens the secondary valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions. The SSQV is constructed of polished billet aluminum, which ensures long-term durability.
New black wrinkle powder coat finished hard pipe is included, along with all clamps and hardware necessary for installation. Our new kit recirculates the air like the original diverter valve and will not trip any check engine lights or fault codes. This is a completely bolt-on kit.
ONLY fits Golf IV and Bora IV 1.8T vehicles with VIN 420001 and higher.

More importantly get a re-circ to stop your engine going bang.Don't personally think much of the hks ssv,my mate had one on his gto and i'm sure it leaked,the price is very steep aswell.Personally i'd go with a forge dv006 if you must have a different dv.

thanks for all the feedback folks.
another question if i may, i'm a bit of a novice under the hood so this'll probably simple to answer, but the Forge DV006/007 is a piston style unit rather than the VW stock diaphragm unit, does this mean that for non chipped cars the forge DV will be less responsive and could actually reduce performance despite being longer lasting??

would that hks valve be ok then without damaging the engine then the price im not bothered about it says it comes with all the pipe work and works as a re-cir valve but i take it you will get the sound from it my mate has that valve on his evo 8 i think it sound excellent but hay every 1 is there own so what do you say will that be ok without damageing my my precious engine thank for the help much app.
