Title: Phillips visionplus 50% brighter H7 bulbs
Post by: jayb on 17 March 2005, 14:38
Hi all.

I've just bought a 1990 Golf GTI. The headlights are fine but I was wondering whether or not to fit the Visionplus bulbs by Philips. Does anyone know, are they really worth the money? Will my wiring be able to cope with the extra energy and how about the headlight unit - will it be able to withstand the extra heat (I'm presuming it burns brighter).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jason

the mk2 takes H4 bulbs btw
you can run 60/55W fine on your existing loom, but if you want to put in 100/80w ones like I run you'll need to buy a uprated loom (blatant plug)

Dizzie, does the Mk2 have plastic or metal reflectors in the headlamps?  I was warned off going to 100w bulbs in my Mk3 because they have placky ones and there is nowhere for the heat fom the bulb to dissipate, so, the bulbs overheat and have a very short life.

Cheers Dizzie,

Do you know, will the 55/60W bulbs be much better than the standard bulbs?
