Thought I'd post some feedback about the general service and experience...

I’ve had a remap by Paramount Performance for about 3 weeks now so I am now in a position to write a review.

After discussions with Greg from Paramount I opted to have their software loaded on my Golf GTi 2.0 with the expectation of achieving 240bhp and 270-290lb-ft.

When I arrived the car was taken for a test drive and then put on the Dyno to see what the standard car was producing and how it was running.
The first Dyno showed the car was producing 214BHP as the Revo stock software was being run as I had previously tried the trial.

The Technicians tried to read the ECU though as the Revo software has security gates to stop people reading the software the car was then reflashed with a Factory stock map.

Then the map was written and loaded onto my car. The whole process for this took a few hours due to reflashing the ECU then writing the map and loading on to my car.

The first Dyno after the remap showed the car was producing 229bhp which I was disappointed with to be honest. I was told that the map needed time to settle and some reference points would be taken initially and the map would adjust meaning this may increase.

Over the next few days I felt the car drove well and was responsive though lacked the power I had felt with the Revo trial (especially as this is supposed to be about 85% of the full Stage 1 power). I contacted Paramount and was told to take the car back; they would rework the map for more power and Dyno the car again.

This was a quick turnaround as they still had the map stored so it was ready to go when I arrived and was merely a case of loading the new map and testing.

The new Dyno results showed 235bhp which again baffled the Technicians working on the car. After analysing the Dyno results it was found that the temp the Dyno assumed was passing through the intake was a lot lower than the actual temp. The Dyno thermometer was then placed in the standard intake and then the Dyno was rerun. This time two power runs were performed showing 239 and 240bhp…the full Stage 1 return.

The car definitely felt quicker and more powerful though still with slightly less ‘grunt’ than a Revo map. The power has a nice delivery through the rev range and holds to the high revs. Over the next few days the car levelled out and is now an enjoyable drive. The power is still there and the MPG has gone up 2-3 MPG on my normal journey to work.

After opinions from some on here it was noted that the torque is low compared to other maps and this could be to improve longevity of the engine etc. Though if it’s good enough for Revo, APR etc to have more torque then we should be able to ‘up’ the torque.

The price was cheaper (slightly) than Revo stage 1 and all the other mainstream options APR, Bluefin and GIAC. It is slightly more expensive than other independent tuners. - £350+VAT (I got mine in a sale so £50 off)

I can not comment on the comparison with these options as I haven’t tried them though may do in the future so I can benchmark each map.

Overall the service has been fantastic and I would not hesitate on using Paramount Performance in the future as they are a great bunch of lads – pleasant and happy to talk about what’s happening, though I do feel slight improvements to the map are needed to make it a real alternative to other options.

Um... shoot me if i'm wrong but how is this any cheaper looking at the new prices from R-Tech?

Did say above it's slightly more then some independents ....

Will change the title as group buy looks unlikely. Worth a review though for people in the area.
