The speakers in the mo are pretty pants and you have to crank the stereo up loud just for them to work!
So looking for suggestions as to what a good set of speakers and tweeters would be for my mkii, not looking to spend a fortune but just want a decent set up in the car so i can enjoy my tunes. At the moment its just the rear speakers that are working
hit me
*Budget of around £200 *

Rough budget? What features you looking for on the headunit?

id say i'm working on a budget of around £200 that would be for stereo and speakers, im not a massive ICE junkie I just want to be able to listen my music which is mainly rock/metal/ pop punk
Now have seen some stereos that take SD cards? but ideally if it can play mp3 cds that would be good um not really sure what other features i would require as long as its got a good sound and it works ill be happy

You are probably looking at a decent second hand unit then. Do you want to run a MP3 player (iPod) through the unit?
What about Vibe 5.25" in the doors and tweeters in the dash? Cost you about £50 leaving a little more for a headunit perhaps new.

yeah if an ipod can be plugged in that would be good, i dont actually own an ipod but do have i tunes
i do have tweeter holes in the door cards already as said im really clued up on stereos and not to bothered what it is as long as it works :)
Would be open to a second hand head unit, I know the speakers are going to make more of a difference

You can get decent entry level Alpine's with iPod connectivity. The price increases when you add Bluetooth, more outputs and other features.
Have a look here: http://www.bassjunkies.com/ or http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/home.html
Don't waste your money on low powered speakers.
What about these: http://www.bassjunkies.com/audio/alpine-sxe-1350s and this: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/12468.html
