Hello there, as a few of you know, i recently bought myself a cabby instead of my vr6 which was just too expensive on fuel and insurance.
Its the 1.8 model so its not slow, its no gti though
Here are a few photos:

Im not really keen on the alloys think theyre from a mk1 gti?
but i was thinking of getting some deep dish alloys like borbet As or summat, any thoughts?
Its been lowered quite a bit, if i have more than one passenger in it scrapes on the arches like mad on corners
Anyway, hope ya like it. Anyone got any suggestions about what i should do to it?
I was thinking of getting a powerflow exhaust system on to make it sound better, but i dont wanna ruin it?

Looks clean and all together, alloys are from a mk1 btw.

Looks really nice.... good find. :afro:
The wheels are from an early Mk1 GTI, a series 1 swallow tail 1.6.
If they are in good nic you might be able to get a few quid for them if someone is after a decent set for an OEM resto project.
Not sure on exhaust as everyone likes different things and the system on mine is huge at the moment.
I used to love my Scorpion system on my old white mk1.

Rolled tip, all polished, sounded nice but not chavy.

are they from a swallow tail... look like standard GTi wheels to me, although I bow to your superior knowledge
i like that cabby... nice and retro... if it was mine I would keep it fairly standard... but that is just me... its yours... you do what you like to it but most importantly just enjoy it!
fingers crossed for a sunny summer!

I'm a bit hit and miss with alloy wheel history and there were around 6 types in total.
Yeah you're right, they were standard on all GTI's from 81-83 but seem to have made there way on many later series 1's which I used to see a lot of. They were an option on the MK1 GX

Spot on, early ones were steels or these below, then later 81 on spec had the same as the cabrio, Campaign was different again.
