Let us know what you think..

Hi and welcome to the MK6 section of the forum
I'll mod your post a little so the pics work without clicking them, 2 secs
-
You appear to have ruined both of them by over-lowering them.
Whoops!
-
Not at all.. It's a matter of taste pal.. Looks and handles better than your average golf!!

You did say 'Let us know what you think'.
Like you say - a matter of taste.
Personally I think they both look hideous - but thats just my opinion. I'm sure you'll find some 17 year old kids that think they look awesome.
-
Nice cars , looks lovely , what spec are they ?
-
Are they actually GTI/GTD's?
Because there are a few tell tale signs....
-

Ha, i thought that too, they've both goth got cream headliners! :nerd:

No rain sensors, and the brakes seem a little on the small side...
But, I love the black one, I used to have a stealth Leon FR, will always miss that car :(
-
Hi GTD - welcome - nice cars
Not sure that I like the gloss black Vancouvers as much as my "stock" ones - I think they'd look good in more of a graphite though!
I was thinking of painting my brakes either silver black or red - I'm now thinking red!
-
Nice cars tbh, i'm all for modded motors but making something look like something it's not? hmmm :undecided: look tidy though, welcome
-
Come on guys lighten up abit and lets not be so negative.
-
Looks like they are both 2.0 TDI 140 GTs , nice cars though
-
Yeah, as Mike said.
And with a map, they'd keep up with your standard 170's anyway :P
-
white one
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GT TDI 140 Engine size(CC)1968
black one did not seem to be listed :undecided:
-
Black one is a GT TDI 140.
-
Really, really don't see the point in trying to make your car look like something it's not.
Total fakes, two totally ruined cars. Good luck selling them.
What's next, cheap copies made in China???
Makes you look like a fool.

Blimey! bit harsh.
-
I don't get it, why do you need two mk6's? Plate on the black one is illegal too.
-
Wow  some negative replies to the new members
Theres alot of modified cars on this forum in the many different forum sections. Most i don't like but if the owner likes them thats all that counts. This member is happy with there cars and so we should welcome them into the fold even if we don't all like what they have done.
Lowering and huge wheels is the norm, alot of mk6 forum members have done it, even more mk5 owners have. I think we just have to be more open to what the end user wants.
-
Feel the love in this thread.......
I for one, like them both
-
One even has a GTD badge, the other has a GTI or GTD badge on one of the pics.
Lookalikes and wannabees are becoming more common unfortunately.
Plain wrong
I really don't get it.
-
Could have probably bought one used R for the price of those two :lipsrsealed:
I agree with Snoopy though, just cos it's not for me then doesn't mean it's bad, the white one looks good with the R headlights.
-
I think it is all rather cool in a obtuse sort of way.
UK manufacturing of Golfs seems to be alive and well, even though the numbers are quite small. I wonder if this is the start or continuation of something unique.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
-
Yup, each to there own. I for one like the front of the White one, with the black lip and black grill, and also like the stealth look of the black one.
But the second picture does show the black one with a different plate on the front, maybe try that to see what it is? :P

Congratulations GTD 2010. You've livened the forum. You are the John Prescott of the Golf world. I like John.

Yes, we've all had an eventful evening :P

Thats actually quite funny, if you only knew what i had been though this week with my eyesight.
-
Making cars look like something they were never intended to be is a no no for me, but i actually quite like the look of both the cars and if your pleased with them you shouldn't worry about a few negative comments.
-
Sad and pathetic.
GTD 2010 please change your username, that's fake too. Maybe GT TDI 140 would be better?
-
Black one is a GT TDI 140.
I know it's bad form to quote yourself but, Ahem! from page 2!
-
I was listening

Two posts back from yours on page 2

So what is the problem, both are nice cars.
Some members seem to be a little harsh over something so petty.
-
Agreed Wayne, it's their car, let them do what they want to it.
Not everyone can afford the buy the 'never depreciating' Golf GTD/GTI, so next best thing, make it look the part :)

Ok... very varied and passionate responses on both sides... just in the spirit of GolfGTI.co.uk
Here's my view: :nerd:
I reckon they are both brilliant.
The black one looks great with the all black approach - bit youthful perhaps but I like it.
The white one I'm not such a fan of but that's purely because I've seen too many white (black alloys) cars recently.
As for them being fakes... they are still real golf's and if someone wants to jazz their car up to look like a GTI/GTD then it's
a) good to have such enthusiasm so good work
b) nice to see that you've went for a OEM approach rather than Halfords bits
c) a compliment to the GTI/GTD that you wish to emulate such models.
For whatever reason you are not running a higher spec model - not my concern, but congratulations on presenting two nonetheless good looking and individual approaches to mk6 Golf ownership.
-
Welcome to the forum. I really like the look of those black gloss wheels on the black GTD. The white one looks a wee bit to low on those monzas for me taste. But great a great job anyway. Maybe you could list the specs and mods carried out to date on your cars.
-

Welcome on board mate. Ignore the negative brigade, it's been a slow news week around here and in a valiant attempt to liven things up, one of our members has even offered to undergo a sex change. I'm sure we'll be voting on his stage name by next weekend.
You're a brave man to have your cars so low, there are some humps round where I live that would have your front valance off at the first time of asking!
-
Welcome aboard GTD2010 (and your shirt).
I think you have done some interesting things to your cars. You've certainly spent some time and (hopfully) money on them.
Are the black Xenons a retro fit or was the car already specced with Xenons? I also like the black wheels on the black car.
Ride's a bit low for my tastes but that's because I'm old and maybe you're a bit more into youth culture!!!
Anybody would think that Golf GTIs had only been in existance a few years from some of the replies, when I was young and the mk1 hadn't been long out of production and the mk2 was a new car there were loads of people back then doing GTI lookalikes (even VW with the original GTD and Driver models), and others were doing XR lookalikes on their Fords. If done tastefully it'd fine. Taste however is far more important with a VAG car than say a Ford IMO  (But only 'cos us VAG fans look down our noses at Fords etc  )
Don't be afraid to come back here and tell us more about your creations, the pictures are very nice but they tell only a small part of the story, this forum is about the people behind the cars.
-
GTD 2010:
If I seemed in any way negative, you are welcome to flog me!
But I hate being confused at 63 and rising.
Welcome again and thanks for livening things here especially for me!
-
Lookalikes/copies have been around for many years.
I hated them then and I still hate them now - especially the ones with fake badges.
-

I don't understand the mentality. Are the people you'd want to impress the most not the ones who'd instantly spot the fake? I saw a Mk6 'GTI' the other day with the boot badge on the right and it wasn't even straight. Put his foot down and a cloud of dirty diesel smoke belched out the back. Very convincing.
-
Chist, look at the spelling mistakes in my previous reply. That bloody hour less in bed has killed my typing skills!!
Anyway, got to say I agree with you on the badging issue. Not bothered about people putting GTI/D bumpers on GTs etc if the car is modified and has the power to back up the image.
Then again, some are just owned by youngsters who want the image but can't afford the insurance. It's their money......(I just hate it when they go round nicking bits off other peoples cars to decorate their own  )
-
Chist,
Haha, still feeling the sleep loss? :P

 I give up! Effing silly little keyboards on netbooks.

Whilst these mods may not be everyone's cup of tea I find some of the extreme negative comments a bit hypocritical. We even have a sticky that asks people to talk about their mods.
We've also had a completely different response to DRC's post on his mods. Whilst DRC's mods are a little more subtle/classy it's all down to personal taste.
As Golfs slowly drop in price we will see more and more mods that aren’t all quite everyone cup of tea.

black one is gorgeous
-
Black one looks stealth mate !!!
-
Cheers for the positive comments.. oh and negative ones too
GolfTi - Dont be such a hater lad..Fake / Replica.. You can call it what ever floats your boat!! OUCH!!
Yep both are 2.0 GT TDI's..
Winter pack + Leather.. RNS 510..
The xenon's were brought off ebay and fitted using the Kufatec adapters + had to be programmed..
Both have been lowered on Eibach sportsline springs.. In one of the pics, the white golf appears slammed.. But it's the sloped driveway it's parked on which makes it appear really low..

Good for you I don't have a problem with either of them, I especially like the black one.

gtd2010 is a bit miffed about GTD2010 copying his username. I don't blame him.
(One lower case, one upper case - one real, one fake).
-
Must admit I was confused when gtd posted about his steering wheel and I'm thinking hang on he's got a mod'd GT
Names very similar caused me a bit oc confusion
-
All this neatly brings me to say that the GTI cannot be copied with such brazen abandon. :smug:
-
Or the GTD.

Damn it steve! The contractions are clouding your judgement! two members with pretty much the same name is just too confusing! Especially as i've had few! :embarassed:
