ok i was wondering if anyone will now what is wrong with my car wheel when i reverse and only when i reverse there is like a strange noise comeing from the front wheel like a knocking i was wondering if that couled be the wheel bearing going but it only does it when you reverse when you drive the car normally its fine thanks and how much if it is the wheel bearing will it cost me thanks
-
It sounds like one of your pad retaining springs is missing, its designed to stop the pads moving about when you reverse. Not sure how it does it, but something to check once you take the wheel off :)
-
if the reverse gear was going whould it make that noise land judder the wheel when slow reverseing help need asap
-
Possibly, it could also be a clutch problem or perhaps your engine mounts are shafted!
-
a macanick said to me that its the reverse gear that is makeing the noise what noise would a reverse gear do if it was on its way out and if it is the reverse gear how much will it cost fix
-
Its possible some of the teeth are damaged giving you a jerky reverse, no idea what it would sound like. If its knackered then only option is to get a reconned gearbox I'm afraid!
-
how much would that cost me to get could it be a wheel bearing
-
No idea, tral ebay and visit your local breakers yards to see how much they charge. Doubt its a wheel bearing as it would be the same driving forwards!
First thing I'd try is replacing the front engine mount, then the 2 rear ones.
-
would the wheel bearing cause the car to pull to on side like mine does
-
theres no way its a wheel bearing if its only when you reverse then theres a good chance its the gbox but have you noticed it while turning etc it could be the cv joint
-
only when im reversing
its like a clicking sound think it could be the teeth broken
-
well ye i would say chuck a gearbox in the motor and done local scrapy about ?80
